Mridangam School
Under the Guidance & Leadership of
Guru Kaaraikudi R. Mani
Twenty Five years ago Guru Kaaraikudi R. Mani formed
Sruthi Laya Kendra with a mission to promote Mridangam
by teaching this art to children who are interested and
enthusiastic in learning. Since then, the mridangam school,
due to its uniqueness, has spread its wings and has
expanded locally in India as well as countries abroad. The
mridangam schools in England, under the tutelage of Mr.
Kirubakaran and Mr. Somasundaram; the school in
Australia, overseen by Mr. Ravichandra; are well
established with over 150 students in each country.
Every year Sruthi Laya Kendra produces top class
mridangists, leading children of all ages into arangetrams,
cultural events, competitions – but most of all, provide an
atmosphere where every child is motivated to have fun
learning this ancient instrument.
These are the results of a:
Keeping with this tradition, Guru Kaaraikudi R. Mani
launched Sruthi Laya Kendra in New Jersey with its first
student’s Arangetram on September 1st 2007, and further
expanded into Canada.
