Vaidyanathan Suresh is one of the few percussionists with an
aesthetic sense of playing the ghatam - his favorite earthen clay
pot instrument! As a versatile drummer, he has mastered this
unique clay pot instrument, Suresh can adapt himself to the
techniques of any international percussion styles with consummate
ease and perfection.

V. Suresh learnt ghatam under the tutelage of eminent artists,
such as T.V. Gopalakrishnan, T.R. Harihara Sarma and T.H.
Vinayakaram. He is now recognized as one of the best ghatam
players in India. For two decades he has carved a niche with
scholars of Carnatic music, Mridangam maestros and
internationally acclaimed drummers. His style of playing is
dynamic, mellifluous and also aesthetically aggressive. He is an
internationally acclaimed artist, and has travelled extensively as
part of Guru Kaaraikudi R. Mani’s ensemble.
