| Vaidyanathan Suresh is one of the few percussionists with an aesthetic sense of playing the ghatam - his favorite earthen clay pot instrument! As a versatile drummer, he has mastered this unique clay pot instrument, Suresh can adapt himself to the techniques of any international percussion styles with consummate ease and perfection. V. Suresh learnt ghatam under the tutelage of eminent artists, such as T.V. Gopalakrishnan, T.R. Harihara Sarma and T.H. Vinayakaram. He is now recognized as one of the best ghatam players in India. For two decades he has carved a niche with scholars of Carnatic music, Mridangam maestros and internationally acclaimed drummers. His style of playing is dynamic, mellifluous and also aesthetically aggressive. He is an internationally acclaimed artist, and has travelled extensively as part of Guru Kaaraikudi R. Mani’s ensemble. |
